The stairs in our houses are different to any other dolls house maker. I am a joiner by trade and I specialised in winding stairs for full sized homes. So when I started making dolls houses I couldn’t let the opportunity pass by to build stairs that look like the real thing. One of the features to a staircase is the newel posts, they are the upright posts found at the top and bottom of the stairs. On a real staircase the newel posts will obviously be above the stair tread for the handrail to fit to. But they will also continue down and protrude through the ceiling. Our newel posts are just the same. However this adds to our production time, but quality can’t be rushed. In my mind they look far more realistic than those that are just stuck on top of a tread. You will see a picture above of part of our Georgian staircase. This is a good example of what I mean and the quality of our work. You can also see pictures of our hand made panelling to fit the Derwent Manor and Derwent Heights by clicking Gallery on the left. This panelling is made to order and specific to our houses.

| Ornamental bracket staircase |
Here is an alternative to our standard Georgian staircase we’ve added extra detail to the sides. On a real staircase these are called ornamental brackets. We have shaped them into the stairs ourselves rather than buying stick on brackets.
